Tajuan McCarty

Tajuan McCarty is the Founder of The WellHouse, a nonprofit, faith-based and Christ-centered agency dedicated to rescuing women from sexual exploitation/human trafficking. Her professional experience includes leadership positions in which she has assisted women ex-offenders re-enter society; helped implement Alabama’s first program devoted to helping chronically homeless, severely mentally ill women, and as a social worker for the AL DHR. She holds Master degrees in Public Health and Public Administration, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from UAB. Tajuan is uniquely qualified to be a forerunner in the fight against trafficking. At 15, she was sexually exploited by her “boyfriend-turned-pimp,” and trafficked to Birmingham so many times it became her home. She is a passionate advocate for victims of sexual exploitation and human trafficking. Tajuan was recognized as one of The Top 20 Women Who Make a Difference in Birmingham, accepted The FBI Director's Community Leadership Award on behalf of The WellHouse, was recognized as The A-List by B-Metro Magazine and Faces of Birmingham with Style BluePrint Magazine both in January, 2015, and featured as An Everyday Hero in Good Housekeeping, March 2015.

Today Tajuan takes the Good News of the Gospel of Grace everywhere she speaks, and the message of freedom is breaking chains across our nation!
