Exceeding Grace

How much is enough?  When we speak of God’s grace we are speaking of something that cannot be quantified.  It is limitless and unsearchable.

…the exceeding grace of God in you. (2 Cor. 9:14)

What does "exceeding" mean?

"Exceeding" = to throw beyond the usual mark, to surpass, to transcend, to exceed, to excel.

We didn’t receive just enough grace to get by.  The grace of God within us goes far beyond any need that may arise in our lives.  Consider this:

And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.  (1 Tim. 1:14)

Grace doesn’t come by itself.  It brings faith and love with it!  And it is exceeding abundant with faith and love.  That is why Jesus spoke of the incredible potential and power of faith, and Paul spoke of God’s love being shed abroad in our hearts.  We are overflowing with unending grace, faith and love.

It is the exceeding grace of God in us that moves us from the world of darkness, corruption, fear, failure and sickness into the world of peace, joy and abundant life.  And God isn’t done yet!

That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. (Eph. 2:7)

There are more riches of His grace to experience in the ages to come.  Take some time to think about His exceeding grace in you.  It is His pleasure to give you the kingdom.  The only thing stopping the power of grace in our lives is our small, natural thinking and believing.

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us (Eph. 3:20)
